Rivets and rivet guns, whats your input/experience?

I have never used a rivet gun. Just want to know what your input is on them. I am going to need to pick up a gun and rivets to install some foot wells and to use on some other random jobs. Any specific brands and types of guns and rivets you all prefer? Any techniques during installation would be helpful also.

Any rivet gun will do but I got mine from sears i think. Just predrill the hole pop the rivet in there. Nothing to it....

Very simple and effective. When the rivot gun start pulling the rivot it will begin to crunch the bottom of the rivot and spread it out to secure what ever you are mounting. Once the tension gets to the break point if the pin it will make a "pop" and break off, leaving the crunched rivot behind.

I use rivets about everyday at work and they suck. A rivet is harder to install than a screw and if ther is any movement then the rivet works loose and a loose rivet can not be tightened. It must be drilled out and replaced. The only hint when using a rivet is that the hole must be as tight as can be if the hole is loose then the rivet is not going to hold as well.

Ive got the rivet gun from home depot with the rotating head. Makes it easy to get in tight spaces.
