I've, had one of those Riva Motors and I felt it performed great. Stricky also had one that he bought from Riva and it lasted years with solid salt water abuse. I'd take another Riva motor in a heartbeat.

was it a Riva built motor or a PMC? I have not heard anything good about PMC and the one rebuilt one I saw a few years ago had crack in the exhaust boss on the cylinder. Its just heresay but I have heard they are cheap made chineses castings and will not hold up.
Like I said its just watercooler talk, I would wait til I hear it from someone that actually owned one before I made a final decision. you do have to consider that that is pretty cheap for all new parts? how is that possible? I think you know.:chairfall:

I installed two of these PMC replacement engines,both were 720 Seadoos,one lasted about a year and the crank seals went out causing front cylinder damage and crankshaft bearing damage,the other one the inner crank seals went out and filled the motor with oil.I also noticed that both engines were bored to .75mm oversize,why thaey are this size is beyond me.The only thing I can think of is they changed the stock bore size to get around patent infringement laws.The casings themselves look as good as Seadoos casings,neithere ran enough hours to determine crankshaft reliability but we do know their crank seals suck.Determine who is going to warranty this if it fails within the warranty period,it won't be PMC they are out of business.:banghead:
hone::sadwavey:a friend of mine bought an '07 SJ, from riva, that came with a PMC cylinder and head.
i noticed the side of the cylinder was always oily. we'd spray it down w/ brake cleaner, he'd take it for a quick ride, come back and it was all oily again. we searched all over looking for leaky base gaskets, but the oil wouldnt travel up anyway so i told him to take it back to riva because the cylinder obviously has a crack in it somewhere in the ports.
he took it there, they took the engine out and apart and said that the cylinder was fine. i said "no, its cracked. let me see the cylinder. i know almost exactly where it was coming from. ill bet i find a flaw".
i went back to the service area and in about 3 seconds, i spotted a casting flaw. there was a hole in the boost port.... not a crack... a HOLE in the casting. you couldnt see light through it, but if you poured alcohol into the port, the outside of the casting would become moist.
so riva welded it, instead of replacing it.... even though they never told him it had a pmc cylinder when he bought it. they even tried to tell me, over the phone, that it was OEM. i asked them why it has "PMC America" cast into the side of the cylinder and why the head has no torque values like ALL yami heads do..... no real answer
his ski is still running, but id rather run a used oem than a new PMC.

A friend of mine had a PMC rebuilt Kawasaki 650 engine. Well he voided the warrenty to put an aftermarket head on it. In the process we found two or three heli coiled stud holes. When changing the studs to longer ones for the thicker PJS head more holes stripped out. He pretty much has about every single head stud hole helicoiled now... But it is still running. He has had it for about 5 years with a decent amount of time on it. He is confident in it but I know it is just a matter of time...
I though PMC was just a rebuilder like SBT or Short Blocks USA, ect... I also thought you guys said they went out of business.
