Riva Girdle Hardware (how to torque case bolts)

I got bored and decided to replace my factory case bolts with the Riva girdled hardware I have while I wait on my limited pipe. Anyway, I went ahead and intalled the six male/female bolts into the cases. All went well with a U-joint replacing one at a time with blue Locktite and tourqing each to 25 ft/lbs (the riva instructions state 25 the book says 23) After removing the stock exhaust I began on two the longer bolts. The bolts are so tall you cannot get a socket over them to torque corrrectly. I would have rather used a crows foot addapter on my torque wrench but obiously did not have this. I was going to get around this with one of the long allen bolts and use a jam nut, but the jam nut wont clear the damn cylinder. I ended up just treading the allen bolt all the way untill it bottomed out and tourqing (kinda jacked the male thread up as the female thread ends before the bolt bottoms) I dont think this would give a very accurate torque reading because it would turn both the cylinder bolt and the long allen bolt, what do you think? I tried to turn it with a wrench and it was tight, I just want to be sure as I did not replace the base gasket just removed and installed one at a time to a higher torque value than before. Does the factory base gasket have any sealant on it or is it just the bare fiber gasket? I want to make sure it does not have an air leak as it is brand new and I do not want to deal with a fried piston. If the stock exhaust wasnt there I could check with some soapy water but I would not be able to see it under all the stock crap. I have read that propane will help inticate a leak?

Sorry for the essay, I would just like to hear some opinions...

True, my gilfriend always said I had trouble expressing my emoticons.:drillsergeant: I hope this one was appropriate. I would like to ride today. I just dont know if it is sealed good. Seems like it shold be fine if the seal was never brocken to begin with?

ok it's just a gasket, no sealent. no idea about the rest of what you said.

need to get the correct tools for the job it sounds like, crows feet just run the risk of rounding off the nut. i really didn't understand the first 3/4 of what you wrote, try summing it up with bullets or something. sorry

Get rid of the Riva girdle kit and get an ADA Girdle kit, you will thank yourself later.

If you keep the Riva Hardware, get a crows foot and torque it down properly.
