I was chasing why my 96 SJ was acting up lately and actually died out in surf a few weekends ago when I discovered that the CDI was the culprit. Thankfully I decided to purchase a spare Enhancer and had it on the shelf to swap in. The ski fires right up and runs like a champ again.
Now I want to know about the Riva CDI and what may have killed it so i don't jeopordize my MSD. Everything checks out, all my wiring is good, I have grease on everything. The only thing I can think that could have damaged it was cranking the ski to check compression with the plug wires disconnected. On the seadoos, there is a place to ground out the plugs while cranking but there is no provision on the SJ's. Is this a problem? If so what is the solution?
Was there anything special about the riva CDI's other than an adjustable Rev limiter?
