Doesn't screw them up? Are we talking a fuel injected motor? I'm clueless here but that seems scary to me. I have a 2005 silverado. I can just see the motor smoking like crazy and blowing up or something and having to tell the dealorship that I ran premix in it . That's when they look at me like I'm stupid.

Been doing it for five years, 60k miles on my Ranger. 2.2l FI engine.

I've dumped 2-3 gallons into a nearly full tank before and haven't had any issues, oil is oil and i'm sure the extra lube helps far more than it hurts.

Oil mixed with gas in cars can ruin cats, and rather quickly too. Otherwise running in 4-stroke engine is perfectly fine.

Oil for mixing is dyed for a reason. If the gas isn't clear (more-less), it's already been mixed with something.

Complicating my gas & oil is that my avgas is blue.
So, if it's blue, it ain't mixed. If it's red, it's good.

About putting it in the truck: I never pour it in "straight". Always on top of unmixed gas already in the tank.

Matt brings up a very good point, ignoring the oil for a minute, running AV gas in your vehicle will hurt your cat as well so if your "mixed" fuel is AV Gas, I'd think again. Then again if your running AV, it has better fuel stabilizers and shouldn't go bad near as fast anyways. Shelf life of AV in a sealed drum is around 2 years.

How is running mixed regular or premium any worse than running died "purple" fuel? The die is just red ATF isn't it?

I don't put AvGas in the truck, I'm too cheap for that.

I only buy as much AvGas as I can run in two weeks, max.

most common av gas is LL or low lead
however any lead will rapidly poison your catalytic converter
and mess up the O2 sensor
which makes running it in a late model car a bad idea
