when i go up for a roll, i always try to initiate the roll with as much rotation as possible.. i can always slow my roll by opening up more, or using my body english less..
Your goal should be to initiate the roll with the right amount of rotation - not too much, then slow. It's like constant sensory intake as you approach and leave the lip of the wave. Once the nose of the ski is leaving the face, you should really get a feel for how hard you need to throw based on angle of attack, speed, and wave height.
Corrections are a must, sure, but it's best to limit them IMO. When you just KNOW your roll will end up where it needs to be, you can start working on variations and style.
3) i havent ridden waves that big in a while and i was just trying TOO hard!!!
I've even had days where the sets build through the ride. Start off rolling on small waves. When they build 3 ft. all of a sudden, rolls are going too far.
I think it's your pole more than the plate. look at your body position in your avatar, it's really far forward.
Tim has a point, you are waaaay over the front.
Saki, It's time to ditch the style-less feet in the holds rolls and put a strap or front foothold on that thing. I've goot a front foothold looking for a home....say the word and it's your's
