Don't shoot me here, but my neighboor has a 2004 RXT and needs to replace the ride plate b/c it cracked and let all the coolant run out of the system. He needs to know what can be used as a sealent for the ride plate. What is on there now is some thick black stuff that is very hard. It took a hydrolic jack to separate the plate form the ski. I recommened some extra bostik I have from my tubbie install, but even that stuff is softer than was is already on there. You can leave a finger nail mark in the bostik, but not in this black stuff...

I still think the bostik would work, but he wants to get what is correct. Any ideas? No one at my local dealership knows and the watercraft tech is on vacation.

the engine overheat? that closed loop cooling system seamed like a good idea to me until i read this-i didnt even think about the potential damage from cracking the rideplate:ugh:

luckily the over heat sensor came on right before leaving the no wake zone, so it just got towed back like a couple hundred feet.

The stuff Seadoo uses is called Ultra black heavy body sealant, you can also use Right stuff,it is more readily available and works just as well. You can get it at Orielleys or Autozone.
