Rev Limiter seems low

Hi,

I've got a 62T engine, sleeved out to 760 which i recently rebuilt and have had out on the water for a couple of gentle hours. All the same electrics used before and after.

My problem - if it is even a problem???, is my ski hits the rev limiter what sounds like quite early in the rev range.

I thought it might have been related to the pink wire on the CDI for the heat sensor, but when earthed this makes the limiter significantly lower again, so i guess we can rule that out.

It has plenty of power, no coughs or bogging, just super clean rev limiting.

It has a CDI someone modded at some stage of its life to get the higher limiter, the epoxy looking stuff covering their mod is still intact so hopefully not that.

Anyone expericed anything like this?

Thanks!

Another member described his symptoms as hitting the rev limiter early and replace the Cdi with an adjustable one, same issue afterwards, turned out to be the spark plug boots he said......

I would have thought it was fractured plug wire cores near the plug boots...

Have checked any of this ?

it all looks good visually,
I would have thought dodged leads would give a miss more than a clean limiter sound at the same rpm.

Im trying to track down a CDI from a mate at the moment to try swapping it out

If more is still needed you might try cutting the plug wires back till you get to solid core with no small pieces of broken wire core coming out and swapping in a different set of boots.

You may need to pic at the core wires to verify they are not broken/loose.
