Return to Idle speed?

When you let go of the throttle out of the water does the ski go back to idle right away or does it slowly go back to idle? Thinking this might be a rich issue but want to make sure it is not normal before taking my carbs off.
-Did a leak down test - 9psi for 15+ minutes
-Butterflies snap back into place right away
-Backed idle screw all the way out

It doesn't increase rpms, just takes maybe a second which seems too long to get back to 1400ish rpm idle speed.

High idle on the trailer is caused by it being lean. If it has always done this, then you likely tuned your low end too lean. Try tuning your low speed screws out. If it's being caused by any other circuit, then you ski is not tuned as well as you think.

If it just started doing this, you could have a clog or a leak.

It also depends on how high you rev it. It won't drop immediately because it's not under a load. My stuff takes about 0.5-1sec but if I hold it open for a few seconds it takes longer.

Less drag will make it come to idle quicker. At least all the total loss skiis I have ridden felt like someone was hitting the brakes when I'd let off the gas.

Still working on the tuning. And now that I think about it, could it be the light weight flywheel/less drag?

My understanding is that heavier flywheels maintain rpm. The extra mass of a heavier flywheel keeps the motor spinning longer. We like light flywheels for freeride because the motor spools faster, but when racing, a heavier flywheel may be an advantage because the extra mass maintains the higher rpm when the pump comes out of the water then reenters.

So no, your lighter flywhee, should make it rev faster and return to idle faster.

If your thinking its going to come down like a big block v8 does, it wont. Especially if you have the stock flywheel.

if its like this, its normal.
