returfing, underturf & minor mods

I bought a 89 Kaw 650 and a 91 SJ last week and the Kaw needs new turf. It doesn't look to bad but it's hard. I plan on using Hydro-Turf "B" stock. What thickness of hydro-turf underpad should I use in the floor of the tray? Where should I use underpad?

The thickness is up to you but I like 1” under my heels and I use kitchen mat from Wal-Mart its $7.00 and closed cell.

i just re-turfed with b stock yesterday. it rocks. i used 8mm underpad from Abe at Northgraphics.

Do you use the wedge shaped kick tail that Hydro Turf sells or do you just double up you pad? I rode for about an hour yesterday and my shins, knees, and elbows are sore. A lot of getting up and down, I'm a newbie.

the kicktail is mainly used by racers to help plant the rear foot.

If its a stock try with no footholds. For $50 you can get the hydroturf and padding trimmed up and ready to be glued from Hydroturf. Its what I originally had last year before I put footholds in. Might be more expensive then Bstock but remember you still have to figure out padding then.

I just picked up padding from Walmart, Im using the camping pad for $6 that others have posted about.
