Replacing wires on stock coil

Location

Is there a way to rewire a stock coil in a Kawasaki 750? I am using this in an X2 and mounting it further away from the engine then the wires will reach.

I opened the E-Box up and it looks like the wires are molded right into the coil. Is it possible to wire up a set of new wires? or is there an aftermarket coil i can run that will allow me to do this?

you can cut the epoxy where the wires go into the coil, then pull the wires out, and then carefully dig out whats left down inside there.

NOTE:

they make connection via a spike coming up from the BOTTOM of the cavity.
I drilled one out once before I realized how it was built.

I put my SX-R motor in my X-2 and had the same problem. I sent my stock coil to Jet Ski Solutions and had him put 3 ft leads on it. It came out real nice. and was cheaper than buying a new coil.

I second Jetski Solutions. The time and money you will spend learning and doing it youself is almost the same price as sending your coil out to Jetski Solutions and having them do it right. They did 2 coils for me and they came out great.

Thanks guys, looks like JSS is the way to go, By the time i end up buying wires and ends ill be half way to his price. And there is always the good chance ill F it up along the way.

Dslicker, Where did you mount your ignition box? Do you have any pics of the inside of your ski?

yes it can be done i do all my sj coils a replace them with wire lead
cut the wires of at the base then get a small peice of tube a little larger than the lead in outside diameter get a grinder and put a sharp jagered edge at on end put it in a drill press and take it a little at a time when you have all the old lead out center the spike and put your new lead in with epoxy around the outside
the first will take you a while but be patient aftre the first one you will be a pro
