Repainting thoughts on a sj

I'm getting ready to repaint the ski and wanted to turf the rails after its painted but i heard the glue will cause the new paint to bubble.

What are you guys doing to avoid this?

Thinking i'll end up masking a line above the rails and prime and paint up from there.

Don't paint the areas that will get turf and if you do, scuff it up good.
