Other removing reg stickers from a vinyl wrap

so i've got to remove some old registrations stickers to apply some new ones to a ski with a complete vinyl wrap. Anyone ever done this? is it possible to do without damaging the wrap?

thanks

I thought the reg stickers never changed.

If you're worried about tearing the wrap put a piece of rectangular vinyl over the the numbers and put new numbers on top of that.

I think he is referring to the expiration sticker not the numbers. I think the best bet would be to take it to the place you had do the wrap or another sticker place. Or you could put it right over the old one

heat is your friend! use a heat gun(hair dryer) but not too close or too hot. heat the area around the sticker and carefully peel it off. should work as long as the sticker isnt to old and battered. or just stick the new one over top of it!

You do know what a vinyl wrap is right? He's esentially got a "sticker sandwich" there (sticker on a sticker). Heat may cause him to pull up both the sticker and the wrap material underneath.

IMO, I'd go at it really carefully, pulling just a little at a time on the reg. sticker. Or, just stick the new one on top of the old.

If the wrap does come up, you can always put the reg. sticker over the spot and no one will ever know the better (except you).

Take a exacto knife and cut around the outside edge of the sticker and then peal the sticker and wrap out, then put your new sticker back in place of the old one and you will always be able to pull them off without pulling on the wrap.

thanks for the input guys, i guess i should have been more clear. i bought the ski out of state with the wrap already on it. thus the numbers are different and in the wrong spot as well (already got f'ed with by the water cops for that) so i need to remove all the numbers and the reg sticker. ive got a bad feeling it's gonna look like crap when i get them off and i didn't know if anyone knew some magic trick to remove them easily.

yes i know what a wrap is... happen to have a custom paint/body/AND vinyl shop and have done this many times in the past. heat will help release the adhesive layer of the sticker, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt just depends on how old the sticker is and what shape its in. worth a shot! gotta be better than buying a new wrap!

I remember the square reg sticker being a pain to get off also. When it was ripped off it left a path of old sticker that said (void) all over the square area. Was not fun to take off. Good luck to you though.
