FX-1 Removeing The Pump Shoe

I think the snorkel might collapse when it starts sucking lots of air. Worth a try though, worst case is you have to add holes to your hood.

The lines of the tray look sweet. Are you going to widen the tray at all?

Not only did I do it for the look but I think I'm going to like it while riding. You leading leg will have more room to lean. I'm going to bring the inside wall down 1" lower than the outside. And yes I will widen the tray but just in the back where the custom footholds I'm making will be.

Whoa! I thought you was just trying to remove a pump shoe! Great work on the sides. Where did your trick stainless pole mount reinforcement go?

Hehee, she needs a little glass work in few places so I thought might as well do it all at once. The stainless pole mount will go back on after it has some holes drilled/cut in it to shave some weight. It just bolts on so its easy to take off.

I'm just going to hollow the foam out of the pole and drill/cut some holes/slots in the turn plate mount. The only 3" hole will be from the hull to the bottom of the pole. The rest will be larger than 3". On my stock hood I have always ran Duct tape over the front 4 air holes. I did widen the rear air holes 1" years ago when I taped up the front. Its how Eric Malone had his FX-1 back in the day when I saw it at a event.

But like you said worse case I will have to add some holes to the hood.

Im thinkin about trying the intake up the pole on my js ski. I think the pole is hollow and there seems to be enough room for the 3" hose on the bottom of the pole. On the top of the pole I can cut it open to allow air to flow through. I wonder if that ribbed hose from home depot would collapse? It would be nice to seal the hood up. Seems like as long as you have a good hood seal that would be the best setup for a dry ski. At least on the js ski I dont have much to lose, im not as brave as you are shawn to cut into my fx1 hood lol.

After coming out of a turkey and chocolate pie induced coma. This what I've done tonight. Also I was thinking about the snorkel up the handle pole. In my theory the pipe for incoming air would not have to be any bigger than the outgoing air? Here is a good link for DIY footholds. http://www.pwctoday.com/f72/homemade-footholds-211721.html .

Im almost done with my snorkle. I need to go get the hose for the bottom and grind the bottom of the pole, the pole bracket, and the hull for the bigger hose. Maybe it will work good.

Well I need help. Not sure if I want to put a scupper or one-way in after reading how bad the leak. I do like to stop and chat to fellow boaters often. I do a lot of turn sub and would do more if I did not have to wait for water to be pumped out. Trent what was that link you sent me not long ago. Its what you said you were doing to yours?

get a 2" sump pump check valve from home depot they work fantastically.

I have had one in my square nose for 2 years and it still doesn't leak one drop in. Best $17.95 i have added to the ski.

I thought about it, but not sure if i'll follow through right now, I need a motor. Its cheap enough though. Since your refoaming it would be an ideal time and you could seal the plumbing up well. If you scupper/one way and run your intake through the pole I doubt you would have much more water issues.

Check this out if your scared of a leaking scupper http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/58878. Supposed to not leak.

I like how you widened those holds at the back. I have 2 other skis that need holds, I may try making some.

My knuckles are busted, cut and I itch like he!! but got the wet foam out. It was only wet around the steering cable true hull fitting (witch is a joke and will be replaced with something better) and the rear of the exhaust exit. Glassed the right foothold to clear the ex tube. Glassed pump bolt holes, vis stream and the inside top of the pump area for the 650 pump mod.

Well, decided to go with one way's. Hope I don't regret it. Put 2 1" 1 way's in and will be installing 2 Rule 500's. It should shed water pretty good. Never have I let the ski sit in water and for sure not going to start now. Once the 5200 dries I will trim the flanges off.

Picked up a couple skis today as well. Couldn't pass up the deal. They were listed here on the X. Thanks tnj! Lots of driving but I have a FX B-pipe! They sound amazing!

From my own experience I would tell you not to use those particular one-ways. Hope its not too late. The one's that seem to work well are the square body versions. I used one of those round ones on my sj and it leaked like crazy. Maybe I just got a bad one, dunno.
