the starter will not turn without being grounded.since you got it pulled press the back against the head while hooked up to the battery.

well, look at the big brain on you guys. Being an educated idiot (such as myself) did not have the starter grounded. So, I checked the starter on my bench...it works. Go figure. Now, I have to reinstall it, but need to go find an appropriate wire to do so. Augustaf, you said I need a 6 gauge wire from batt neg to starter. I've got like 3 leads coming off the neg already. Is it a bad idea to splice them all together (12 ga each)on one connector and then run the 6 ga individually to starter? This will help with the congestion going on at my batt terms.

The MSD is ground to the mounting plate with bolt/nut...should it be on the mani instead?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd be trying to buy a starter right now if it wasn't for your help.

I forgot!
Ground the shiat out of your TL i have a ground from the neg battery to the starter, a ground from the head to my abs mounting plate terminal (which is a bolt that grounds the relay and the brain and anything else that needs a ground) i also have two individual ground wires from my intake bolt to the coils. lots of grounds.

it sounds like he has the big ground from the battery going to the TL plate instead of ANYWHERE on the engine...... that could surely be a problem.

do you have your main ground from the battery connecting to the top bolt that mounts the starter to your engine case?

thats the most ideal spot to put it, electrically speaking. i prefer to put it in a more visible place like under a f/w cover bolt. it makes troubleshooting a lot easier.
