nobody competed here last year except in celina at the eastern states cup race, we had stoyer and some others and eric malone. There are no freestylers left here, people keep asking me that and I tell them all the same thing, gather a bunch of people and show up

theres a bunch of freestylers in the area, just not competing.

i was going to compete until i saw the expense and lack of current participants. i know we could get a bunch of guys together but then you'll still have 50 or 100 bucks for the weekend in entry fees.

i decided to just use that for cash and ride with the same people at an unsanctioned event.

ya i would like to compete in some of the events that are close to me but it costs money to enter and travel money and if there arent many competitors

This is one of the biggest problems with Am Freestyle, everybody says "it cost money", here is an idea, round up a few freestylers, talk to your local promoter, see if he would make a cut rate since he has not been doing any freestyle. otherwise, it is going to remain dead.

No he will not!
This is sad, I competed in R6 from 2000 through 2002. Freestyle was big then, we always had several guys, probably always 4 or more. What happened up there, I got a real job in TX and everyone else stopped playing :frown:

The sad thing is that freestyle is the most entertaining thing for spectators to watch. It would be a real positive thing for the sport if that was a solid event.

That's the problem. There are SOOOOO many more people watching at a freeride (or even a Saturday out on Lake Michigan) than there EVER was at a region 6 event. I remember back when I was loosing, er, I mean competing against Jeremy, and his friend from the waterski show was pretty much the only one clapping, or even watching for that matter. All the racers just get ticked off that you are out on the water when they could be tuning or practicing. Man, those guys HATED us!! I can't believe how much more fun and exposure I've gotten since I STOPPED competing!

unfortunately thats prettymuch the attitude i hear they have too, and that freestyle is pushed to the Lunch period, and no one cares about it in R6

You know, it does p!$$ me off that most of the racers have that attitude. I'm a racer and have experienced that since day one in this region. It's just like the stand ups and runabouts arguing over who shouldn't be there. Straight up retarded. The more, the better. End of story.

Agreed, also, that freestyle drew the most spectators. It's what drew me to racing! Please someone show up and compete. I'll watch and clap. And my hot pre-wife will, too

im going to compete atleast once this year so i can atleast say ive done it and if i like it and i get a buddy to go out and compete against me maybe ill compete more.

No kidding entry fees are expensive, Nobody said it was cheap. But if you can get enough guys together and come to a few region 6 races I guarantee you will have fun and love it. Why don't you guys here gather amongst yourselves and pick a race out of the monster energy tour and show up to one or two. Believe me, with all the money racers pay for entry fees we could say we will stay at home and save it for some new parts or gas, but we have a ton of fun.

I don't think any racers have that negative attitude anymore, besides you guys go on during our lunch break which kinda sucks, because I can't watch because it's really the only down time of the day for me to eat. Not to mention lunch break is only like 20 minutes when we don't have freestyle and that sucks. If you guys show up youll be doing alot of us a favor and letting us rest some more too, which is always good, and we can watch some good riding go down.

I dont know if you guys know this, but we do get guys together every weekend. and we have a Hell of a time, ride as long as we want, do what we want, have double ups sometimes. and dont have to pay 50 dollars and travel as far. I think thats why freestyle at races just doesnt go, we can do it in our backyard..whats the incentive?

Where as with racing, its very difficult to do the same. However, I did go to the Myrtle Beach race last year and it was an awesome time, but then again that was surf riding- but still great all around! Surf and Turf does a great job for freestyle!

And Ice, i think that isnt a bad idea- Ill talk to some locals and see what they think about signing up for Either the Hillsdale Race, or another close one- any venues you recommend?
