Freestyle Reeds shot...I think?

Vf3 reeds installed about a month ago. Starting noticing issues about 2 weeks ago where motor just was not hitting as well as it was. Subbed pretty deep off of a failed backflip and when i came up it did not want to start (worse than normal water ingestion clear out), ever since then it has started hard.

However, it was still backflipping just fine for the most part so I kept riding as it was. Took it out yesterday and was a noticeable lack in power, was able to get a few around but just was not performing. Pulled my F/A's and my back carb was coated in the white slime, so mixing oil and water, was coated all the way up into the F/A. Adjusted the ski so it would idle and watched inside the carbs while it was running and noticed when i stopped the motor i was getting a whitish mist coming up out of the rear carb, didn't quite look like exhaust but maybe atomized fuel?

Between the performance issues, the goo and the smoke/mist coming back out of the rear carb I assumed reeds. Pulled both sets today and while nothing is broken, there is a noticeable difference between the two sets. Namely the rear problem carb has some significant gaps to my untrained eye (never have had to mess with reeds before.)

I attached pictures of both sets of reeds hoping you guys can confirm before I spend a bunch of money to replace reeds. Also curious if i can reverse the reeds in the cages to get some more life out of them.

Appreciate the help guys!

Reeds I think are fubar in this post, reeds I think are ok in 2nd.

Replace them. You are already there. I have one damaged reed and replaced one. Each set is like 60 bucks. 120 bucks in the long run is way worth it. You already have to order at least one set just to have usable reeds, just make them all new for another 60. One of them breaks off and goes in your crank you will kick yourself over 60 bucks. Plus you will then have to spend that amount just to replace them then. Just do it now while they are out in front you.

I've read that v-force reeds typically have a short life span but that's just plain awful. At least they are somewhat consumable by the engine though if one broke off. When I get out of work I will follow up with photos of the worst stainless reeds I have ever seen. Stainless reeds scare me the most lol.

This is why stainless reeds scare me lol. These came from a jet boat running a Mercury engine, how or why they did not destroy that engine is beyond me but it ran like a top when the new reeds were installed, no pieces were ever found inside the engine either and not a mark on anything. My thought...aliens. Aliens had something to do with why the pieces just strangely disappeared without any sign of damage.

@Pro-pulsion, It was probably the aliens of physics. :D The broken pieces likely passed right through the exhaust port. Stock exhausts are really just mufflers and have much less-effective return waves than aftermarket tuned pipes.

Surely there's someone out there whose stainless petals hurt their stock engine but it's rare. The scare really doesn't (or shouldn't) happen until someone runs stainless reeds with an aftermarket pipe. That should be avoided.

They're a wear item and easily neglected by many owners. The number of hours and high RPM time on that Mercury would also matter.

Stainless reeds are actually more reliable than the Internet has us think... or at least not as scary. :)

@Citizen did new reeds fix you're issue??

I've had a decent amount of water ingestion trying combos, and seems like my motor is slowly losing power.

Flipping the reeds did fix the issue for the most part, she still starts hard if left sitting in the water, i think its just from having to clear out the waterbox. Promptly after this my coil start going bad, replaced it with a kawi coil from Jetmaniac and its been running like a champ ever since.

Pulled my vf3's this morning found some gaps in the back set that ran the entire length of the petals. Gonna replace both sets today hopefully takes care of my issue. Engine also sounded slightly choppy at low rpm last time I was out.
