hey guys, tonight i finally got around to putting my stock 701 together. for my sj I got a wsm top end std kit with new gaskets. I honed my cylinders, painted all my parts. I put the cases together with the crank, and i installed the pistons with rings via the yamaha repair manual.
I got the cases bolted down to specs with a new base gasket. I added some oil to the cylinder walls so the engine would be lubricated and i spun the engine by hand. This is where i get confused on what to do: i started to notice on both cylinder walls in the same general area of each other a colored line running down from the top of the wall to the bottom where the piston bottoms out... it spun smoothly and i didn't get any hesitation or grabbing of the rings on the side. compression felt good with the head on
Will it harm the walls or do i need to break in the motor? or should i take the cylinder off and reposition my rings or can i leave it like this and run it? i tried to rub the spots and they wouldnt come off, but they are not digging in. Aslo when i coated the walls with oil and i would spin the crank 1 rotation or more, i would get a line of oil on both cylinders in that same exact spot. please advise...thanks
