I have never ridden without them but don't see any on any freestyle boats. I'm debating if I should remove mine or not since the ski is being stripped now. Mainly flatwater riding.

I should add I will be putting Tom21's on the front

Are they the JS550 type? I've never ridden with them, so I'm of little help.
But if you look at the XFS hull, it kicks out at the bottom creatinga similar effect I assume.

They are a little different from the 550sx style. Here is a shot of them from another thread.

I do think I will remove them and just stick with the front tubbies and asses for a season. Making a lot of decisions but not getting enough work done on the ski. Must.... Make.... Time...!

thanks guys

LOL, not sure where it is from it is all ABS or some plastic composite. I think they were made by Twist, a company probably not in business anymore. I get the idea behind it, as it's not that much different than the WORX sponsons that my wife has on her Seadoo SPX. Just not sure it helps much in the freestlye realm for flatwater.

Seems like if you mounted them upside down, just to get more surface area without effecting directionality it could remain useful... but yeah, i'd try it without them..

Chadetroit that's dangerboys old ski isn't it? Ask him about what he thinks about taking them off. My brother bought his back up boat about a year ago that had them on it as well. The ski is now just ridden in flatwater and he as not had any issues with them..

Yup thar is his old ski. I think I've committed for now to remove them since I've defoamed and this is a good time to seal up all the holes. I'll jeep them in a box incase I need a little extra carving help
