Rear bond lip removal 650sx

I have a 650sx that I have done a few things to address the handling. 4" over stock ride plate, rear sponsons, shortened steering 4", turf, dry pipe mod etc. Its night and day compared to how it was but I'm having an issue now with hookup in the rear when turning sharp, the rear tries to slide and comes unhooked unpredictably.

Some FX1 guys cut out the rear of the bond lip because according to Shredmaster it creates a pocket of water and lifts the ski. Other chopped builds also seem to remove the rear part of the lip.

To me it makes sense to let the water out the back of the bond rail. I would imagine it would allow the ski to rail corners more predictably, I also assume that lower speed control would be improved as a whole.

If anyone has any thoughts on if I should chop the rear of the bond rail I would appreciate it. I have a build album so you can see the state of the ski and the sponsons/ride plate. Thanks in advance for any input.

Me trying to ride.

You should be able to get on a stock ski and rail it out no problem. I think you just need to spend more time riding and learn where your body/chin should be entering and exiting turns. I'm far from pro but judging from the video you should be way lower in your tray and have your chin hanging off the side of the ski some more! also you're not letting the ski lay right over and hook up, it looks like you're riding it very flat.

Watch some videos of racers and copy their body positioning.

I gotcha, the gopro was on my chest so a lot less movement there but you are right on me not laying it over, it was a casual Sunday ride and I didn't feel like going in the drink. The issue I am having is exacerbated when I lay it over, maybe the sponsons I have on there are doing more harm than good and those were a step in the wrong direction. It is my first season on the ski but on that same note I understand these things are turds from the factory. I did most of the stuff in the groupk article and a few others such as the rear sponsons and steering mods.

I understand the ride and get used to it argument and agree but if I can sort a issue that will help me now, and down the road, I'm all for it. Overall most of the stuff I have done have been great quality of life improvements. The extended ride plate and -5" on the steering doing the most good imo.

I guess its possible I'm chasing a non issue.

Thanks

It's hard to tell from the video you're right and I'm sure those mods were a huge difference bit if you want to learn to lay it right over you're going to be doing some swimming. My best advice is watch some racers and copy body positioning as it's the hardest thing to master in my opinion
