re-drilling steering nozzle

Hey. I was looking at the standard hole in the steering nozzle for the cable, and I thought if it was closer to the bore it would create a greater range of steering? :thinking:what do you guys think?
Cheers

you can also turn your steering stop the opposite direction from stock. they are kinda rectangular and stock the are set long left to right. loosen it and turn it 90 degrees and it give you about a quarter inch each direction.

I don't like the steering stop turned to the narrow side. I would rather move my cable mount at the turnplate out with a little piece of metal than move the stop. The stop makes the bars turn so far that they get in the way at full lock...just my $.02 And the hole in the steering nozzle is a must. drill it as far in as you can then grind the plastic away to make more room for the throw.

Be sure to check how your steering cable hits the waterline boss coming off the pump on the right side, I did this and ended up bending 2 steering cables before I realized what was causing this.

one thing I just thought of too, with the o*bars turning to the right already cuts the cable tought, theres no slack in it at all...so...maybe ill just turn to the left once iv modded the steering!

Does anybody have a center-to-center measurement of how far inboard you can move it? I'm cool with clearencing the steering nozzle to allow more throw, but I don't want to run into issues with the steering cable like BK mentioned.

I moved mine in as far as I could and didn't have a problem until I added trim. Just take it off at the ball and look to see how much it will take before it touches the water line.
