Raider nozzle on SJ performance gains?

I'm getting ready to build my CATS pump and was wondering if there is any performance loss or gain using the Raider reduction nozzle? I already have the Raider nozzle, it is completly different look (fatter discharge chamber) than the SJ. I just wanna know if anyone has notinced any difference before I put it together.

When I put my raider nozzle on for my trim, I noticed a loss of bottom end. My superjet nozzle was bored out to 85mm so the raider nozzle needed some boring. I took it out to 85 and it's much better now.

If you already have a superjet nozzle on there just weld the bosses on, you won't notice a performance gain with the raider nozzle

I'm running a hooker 9/15 with wet wolf stubby cone. I plan on cleaning up the pump area a little with the dremel. Also who does the nozzle boring on these pumps?

as far as the nozzle goes the one i put on my SJ looked the same. i moved my pivot knuckle more closer to the nozzle for quicker steering. i didn't notice a loss or gain.

He's talking about the reduction nozzle, not the steering nozzle. But while we're on the subject... When you moved the ball connection in closer on the raider nozzle, did you flip the stator section around to clear the cooling boss. On my old superjet nozzle I was able to take it in an inch or so but on the raider set-up I could only get a centimeter or so.

Biggggg difference without that quicksteer mod. Almost un-ridable

sorry for the thread-jack!

haha i cheated. i got a really long bolt and extended it downward and put a seadoo syle steering ball joint on it. works really well.

That's what I was thinking about doing to. Thanks

another helpful tip. you know on the steering plate (on handle pole) how it is only alowed to turn so far? take a ginder to the plate and knock off about an inch on both sides (alows you to steer further) and grind down both ends of the steering cable.

end result.... HUGE THROW and extremly quick steering. talk about turning on a dime? you can turn on a dot doing this. best free mod i have ever done to my SJ

Hey guys, i would like to put a cats trim on my sj but I don’t know
from which wave raider 700, 760 or 1100 i have to buy and what year?

Look in the Tech FAQ forum, there is a thread complete with parts numbers, etc.

The quick answer though is any Yamaha with the 144mm pump and trim, which means a 701 or 760 normally.
