im going to be putting a '92 sn back together in a couple of weeks. this is my first yami and im going to be needing a lot of parts and help. im building for freestyle/freeride.
First off i need to come up with a good engine setup i want to hear you guys ideas for the best setup for my application, 701, 760, and i want to keep this build as economical as i can im sure i will stray from this but im going to start as a budget build.
here is what im starting with, Cyclone footholds, blowsion nose piece, blowsion one way valve, 24/7 scupper.
i will also need a pole, i would like to go with a rn pole.

well guys give me some ideas i will really appreciate it.

Get yourself a 61X bottom and a 760 62T or 64X topend.

thanks guys, i would like to find an engine like matt_e said, but with a good bottom end. i dont mind re-building the top end i would like to stay away from the crank for now.

It's larger.
I think it has better all around power. Not as much bottom, but you can fix that with a limited pipe and more compression.

if i can get my hands on a cheap 650 how much $$ and trouble is it to take it to a 701?

Bore it, put new pistons on it, put a stock 701 head on it.

Or, buy a 701 topend.

You can get a 650 short block for about 350, or a 701 with 61x cases for about 500. I've still got a 701 61x/62t for $500. You'll need a bed plates, intake, exhaust, and electronics. I'm gonna keep the 61x with carb that I told you about for now.

It ran when I used it. I took the carbs, intake, electronics off it to build my big bore. This is just the short block with the head. I'll bring it with me, so you can look at it. The head is off it right now so you can get a good look at the bore. I'll bring some 61x cases, so you can see the difference. I'll call you, and we can talk about the other stuff I have laying around. :biggthumpup: I have reeds, a carb, etc... I can show you how to re jet the carb real quick too, so you'll know when you get one.

since things are slow today im going to post up the parts i have gathered so far.

RN pole -4 stock turn plate and 0 degree bars w/oury lock on grips and billet throttle i took of my 550.

62t-61x 701 from accbr.

mikuni 44mm sbn.

coffmans pipe with manifold.

cdi from a '04 SJ with msd enhancer.

reeds/cages and flywheel from accbr.

all mounts, bedplates. etc...

and i know i have more stuff on the way i just cant think of it all at the moment.

not much has happened yet im still gathering parts trying to get everything lined up so i could drop it and set it up in one night. well tonight i got bored, drank a few black and tans and set a few things in just for a dry fit. i couldnt stand looking at all these goodies and still having a bare hull so heres a couple of pics nothing special, but theres a lot more to come i still need to get a few parts, turf the rails, install my front foot hold and a little turf here and there. since its freezing balls to me now i hope to get it together take a few tunning runs in the lake then im going to the beech. i cant wait till next summer to ride this ski so i guess its going to get broke in in the surf and hopefully not trashed.

and yes its in my kitchen, sorry for the dirty dishes and empty boxes :icon16:

anyone know what coffmans pipe this is? is it the sizzler?

i have a question about turfing the rails, should i leave the rubber bumpers on or pull them off? it looks like it would be easier with them off to me. and do you roll the turf under the bond rail on cut flush with the bottom? seem like it would look cleaner cut flush.

cut it flush at a 45 degree angle, so it doesnt tear off over time.

what about the bumpers?

use a heat gun, some prior measuring and fitting, and go all the way around, if you like the bumper and want to leave them is 100 time easier but while turfing the rails you might as well do the whole thing and make it look a lot nicer. To do the bumpers in the rear bend the turf around and cut out a triangle or slit so it goes around the corner nice and its a good spot for a seam.

That's the same pipe I started with when I put the 701 in.
