I got to meet up with Brian and Josh at Body Beach on Monday after World Finals to check out the new Hull.
Fit and finish - Wow. Very clean at all the mating surfaces. No rough edges. This hull looks like a production type hull. The hull is delivered with a primer finish. (I think Brian said it was epoxy prumer) Light prep and paint will have to be done.
Ride - I am more of an Old School flat water guy. Still have a SJ. I prefer doing rolls and such. I have never been comfortable on the short Freaks, DVX's, KDX etc etc. The only short hull that I have rolled was Phillip Clemmon ' old KDX. It took me a while to attempt a roll on it. I rode Josh ' s with the TPE 964 in it first. Within 1 minute I decided to try a roll. Water conditions were very rough but I was immediately comfortable on this ski. The roll was not great but that is my measuring stick... flat water 180's. I have been trying these some on a buddies Superfreak with a DASA 1200. Not very consistent. On the Havoc after about 2 attempts I was repeatedly landing them and powering away. So, if my lack of short hull skills is any measure this is a very well balanced hull. Now as far as the Orange Ball of Fire. I hope I never set foot on it again. Having that TPE 1105 power should be against the law. I think I will have nightmares for a long time on it. I think I did try one 180... only one.
Oh. I gave this ski a thumbs up review. Rick Roy and Pierre Maxient both gave the Orange Beast 2 thumbs up. Not gonna get a better review than that. BAMMM
