Race tuning vs freestyle tuning

Other then a different prop what kind of mods are specific to racing or freestyle? I kinda want a fast ski but i also want a freestyle setup so im just curious which mods are better for each.

So you are talking about top end vs. freestyle? Raceing isnt all top end at all, its buoy to buoy hit.

Freestyle is normally wet pipe (b pipe) But some top guys are going dry pipe (keep in mind huge motors)
Race guys normally dont go over 210 lbs comp. but some freestylers go 230lbs because they dont ride in sustained high rpms
if you have a low end prop youre not gonna lose more than 3-4 mph anyways

Hmm, so how fast does an average freestyle ski go compared to a stock ski? and race ski vs stock. Im just curious what kind of differences i will see. Id love to have a ski dedicated to racing and one to freestyle but thats not happening. Just trying basic tricks on my 550 has shown me that freestyle is way more fun, but wide open runs across the lake provide quite a rush aswell.

Its not difficult to have a 50+ mph ski that is great for freestyle. Hell, a stock superjet would be a HUGE upgrade from that 550

Hopefully im picking up a RN from alabama soon if i can find the time. Ive told the guy i want it for the past month almost and still havent been able to get it. School is out in a few days so hopefully if it hasnt sold yet ill have a already modded RN to ride aswell.
Out of curiosity whats the fastest SJ anyone has seen?

Nicolas Rius probably has the fastest superjet. He rode for Yamaha for a long time and just switched to hydrospace.
Theres no such thing as an "average" race ski. Theres stock, limited, open, and GP
Stock 50-55
Limited 55-60
Open 60-65
GP 65+
Those are rough estimates as there can be a 5mph differance between two race skis. Even though most race skis are set up for low to mid range to grab the holeshot and have the best buoy to buoy hit.

I thought freestyle was the best thing ever till I rode some buoys and I cant get away from racing. I still like to fool around on my sxr race boat but I find racing more enjoyable than freestyle. Sitting on the line waiting for the band to snap is the biggest adrenilane rush of my life
