Race Class?

Im interested in racing this coming season but dont know which class i would be running in or what i could to make my ski more race ready I have a 90 superjet with a 701 2mm overbore, riva red pipe, protec head, ported 61x cases, 46mm carb, 13/17 3mm solas, WCF sponsons, worx intake grate. It was setup for a surf ski. What do the yamahas run in order to keep up with the kawi 800s?

Race it in rookie open. It's a run what you brung class.

i concur with john.... beginner/rookie open. have fun with it.. people in rookie open are the same experience level as you so it's fun.... the sn is a good hull, i have a friend down in florida that did quite well on a square nose in expert open

that's called the beginner class.
it is the cheapest class too.
anything goes too.
you could have a eme 1200 mod motor, and still race in that class.
if memory serves me right, you can only race 3 times in begineer's, then it's off to the novice classes.

you can ran entire series as a beginner. the 3 race rule was changed when the APBA took over

and as far as the EME 1200.. class limit in ski class i believe is 800cc in open so you would a tad over the limit for displacement

Do they have that class in every region? Been checking out the schedule for region 6.

yes, it is a standard APBA Class........ But you have to have entrance to run the class........you may end up with only one or two racers in it but that is ok.

It's something I'd like to try, but I don't want to have to mod my ski too much to be legal.

Region 6 runs a beginner ski class at every race. It usually has several skis in it. Fun class and a great bunch of guys/gals. If you ever decide to go, give me a shout. I run through Lexington for almost every race.

Also if are interested in racing and really dont have a good ski to run, you may can hook up with somebody and run their ski (some would not do this), I have done it for several racers here.

Oh yeah BK, we loan out skis all the time. Usually the beaters so not real pretty, but everyone's skis run great. Abbcr, we could hook you up with an SXR if you need one.

are a lot of you guys region 6 riders because im new to the tour also and want to meet some of ya...i plan on doing the whole tour next year:dunno:

Is this beginner class open to any ski too? I just have an SJ with a soon to be big bore motor, Tubbies II, etc. I have a taller prop and longer plate I could throw on it. Which races do you usually go to? I'm afraid if I ride an SXR I'll want one of them too. :mischievous:

If you want to run your SJ in Beginner, not a problem. It is an open class. I know a lot of guys that raced an entire season in beginner on borrowed skis as well. Most on stockers. You may actually be better off on your SJ however. You are used to it and sounds like it has a few nice mods. I usually go to all of Pat Mell's races and then we hit a couple others for fun like Myrtle Beach, Rochester and Florida or NC for another Mike Young race.

2007 I hit: Myrtle Beach SC, Hillsdale MI, Charlotte NC, Algonac MI, Harbor Beach MI, Celina OH, and Nashville TN. Some of the other guys hit Rochester NY, St Ignace MI and of course Havasu AZ.

Just race dude. Scorns my ridin buddy and his advice is good lol race next year. I only raced that last seaside race and ran beginner this past year and even tho it was kinda cold its alot of fun. so do it.

Hey all, I travel and race with Water X 117 (Kentucky Jon) to the tour stops. We also offer a ride along / caravans with our crews (EH Team Racing) yaahh...as well a loan boats out. I race in limited but, ususally have b practice boat at the races(sxr stock class high end mods).

We welcome any new racers wishing to give it a try and hope to see many out there this year. A word of warning..racing is addictive. Beyond the races..hanging with the 6'rs for our after race shenanigans I something not to miss.

Tucky, I'm gonna work on that trip to FLA when Hot Water gets their schedule up or hopefully Mike Young puts and Tampa date in his TBA's
