Super Jet R&D head questions. and need suggestions on how to make this better for freestyle.

First off where do you get new O rings for this head since it doesn't have a gasket.

I currently have a 98 sj with pretty much R&D everything. I bought it that way for $2500. Not a bad deal. Only problem is it has a flame paint job... lol. But from what I gather it has a stock motor that I am porting and boring and putting some new pro-x pistons in. It also has an R&D head, pipe, ride plate, pump stuffer, waterbox, water injection, and an un known prop.

From what I can tell it has 35cc domes in the head. They have a "35" stamped in the side of them. I am building, or i should say rebuilding this for less go fast and more freestyle brapage. Is the 35cc domes a good cc for pump gas and should I stick with it? or should I get a higher compression and still be fine with 91 octane.

I also have a big crack in the bottom of the exhaust manifold I just noticed while doing the topend. I emailed R&D with a picture but I have gotten no reply. So I guess I will just weld it back up.

also this pulse line is capped off. does it not need to be hooked up to the carb? It just has one pulse line hooked to both carbs.

should I ditch the pump stuffer and run the intake grate and maybe a different prop for better thrust out of the water. I could care less on top speed it just needs to get me out of the water.

Thanks for your help!

And my bad its a pro design head with a R&d pipe. I bought it out of utah. I guess I will have to get it together after the new motor and see what the compression is at

Ditch that crazy long ride plate first of all if you plan on setting up for freestyle....gonna have to pull carbs off and check to see what size jets it has, and gonna want compression around 180 running 93 octane fuel....thats what my ski has and it has some brap.....also make sure that the pulse tube is sealed to block (i can see come kid of sealant around it) you can check this the cheap way by starting it and spraying starting fluid around fitting (poor mans' way) or do a leak-down test (correct way)

also you are going to want to sell that pipe and get your self a b-pipe......that is a mid-top end pipe....the water inj. will help but that is 100% racing pipe..

p.s. i am in the same boat as u right now with my pipe...i have a older pro-tec and just dosent have the same bottom hit as a b-pipe

I have read it both ways get a B pipe! then I have heard the r&d has more punch? idk.

It has a pump stuffer in it now. Would it gain more low end if I take that out? also can i use the intake great thats meant for the pump stuffer with out it and it will run just fine?

I agree with the giant ride plate. Im currently looking for a stock one to D cut.

So the guys I ride with most are stock skis. but mine with the mods it had and 120 compression still ran 49mph and only had less braps that my friends piped and head sxr (55mph ski). Also my water injection was unhooked. so I was running no WI to the pipe.

It will be quite a difference with a fresh ported motor.
