Super Jet Quick painting question

Im going to painting my ski within the next month. Would I be able to leave the engine in the ski and still paint it while its up side down? I know iv read that its bad to leave the ski flipped up side down with the engine in it. but just wondering what everyones opinion on it

just pull it takes less than 1hr and will save alot of worry about damaging the motor.
a few new gaskets are like 20 bucks, a used replacement motor is alot more $$$

And does anyone know about pump shims? when i pull the pump do i just put the shims back where they originally where?
