Quick foothold question

In the process of installing footholds on my 02 superjet. The footholds are all epoxied and riveted in place, and i made sure to seal every rivet hole and also the gaps all the way around the foothold really well with the epoxy. I was just wondering how important it was to fiberglass over this? And why you need to do it at all? Also what would happen if I don't decide to fiberglass over it at this point..? Thanks for any input

You NEED to fiberglass in the footholds. We had a guy bring in his ski one time, footholds ripped out while he was riding because he only riveted them in and didn't add foam. Fiberglass will hold the footholds in, and foam will support it.

the fiberglass is the strength and the epoxy is the binder. you also will decrease any chance of pinholes leaking water into the hull. and the hull is what a little less than a 1/4 inch thick? you are gonna wanna beef up the hold and especially the bond between the hold and hull.

use 4lb flotation foam to fill the voids as it will provide support for the hold and you and take up the empty space in the event water does make it in there.
