My buddy is having a problem with his superjet starter not engaging the bendix. when he hits the start button you can hear the starter turn but thats it. he thought it was a starter at first so replaced it and in the process he stuck his finger in the starter hole towards the bendix and it was filled with grease. I dont know if that much grease is normal or not, i would assume it would need some lubrication but not too much because then it would seem like the starter couldnt connect with the bendix...but i could be very wrong. his just trying to figure out if he could take the bendix out and put it in a solvent to clean it, or just replace it...thanks for the help!
