Seems like there has been a trend here lately about asking for help working on a ski.l mean LOTS of questions on several different threads all on the same ski that the Op is working on at the time.
Granted we all have some questions from time to time, myself included. But why the heck don’t you just take it apart to start with? You might even learn as you go along.Whats the worst thing that could happen!? I’ll answer that, you might screw up! Or you may even figure out on your own..

The X has some really good information on most skis and can be looked up here on the search button. For those who don’t know where that button is,it is located on the upper right hand corner of the page.If you don’t get the answer you need, then there is another search engine called Google.Undoubtedly a wealth of info.

Please don’t take any of my comments personally,it just amazes me that some of the questions seem pretty basic in their nature. We all had to learn at one point or another. So try it,take it apart, and if you can’t figure it out...Look it up

I regularly tear into stuff that I have never worked on before and I either don't have the manual or manuals don't exist for it. I feel you can learn a ton more about how something mechanical works by doing it that way. That being said a lot of people my age or younger were never really taught how to repair things so they don't have a clue where to start. I don't mind answering questions and helping them out, but I agree that I see a lot of people who want a full step by step write up and still can't fix whatever they are asking about. I understand if they are just learning, but if that's the case they need to take a little initiative and do some research or they are just training to be a parts changer.

Because this is the age of the internet where someone can do it for you and show you how.

Remember before the internets when you had to actually jump in and figure it out for yourself, or actually get a manual?

I try to research everything first before I start a project, BUT, it NEVER fails that something unexpected happens that I can't figure out and I can either get totally frustrated and probably break something on my ski AND waste a weekend trying to figure out, or I can jump on here and ask "what size left handed screwdriver do I use to remove my pump's muffler bearings?" and typically within 10 minutes I get an answer that saves the day, and for that I am eternally grateful.

I’ve personally asked questions i know I can easily answer myself many times. There’s several reasons I do this: 1. More content on this site means better SEO which means the X is in front of more people which means growth for the sport 2. The answer to a seemingly dumb/obvious question might save someone less experienced hours of work later on 3. I’m bored and pondering something at work and can’t look at my ski until I get home.
I mostly agree with what you are saying but it seems there’s also very little harm in having more content

This forum gets so little traffic as it is, some activity is great.
