SX/SXi/SXi Pro question about pole limiting strap

So I was toying around yesterday trying to get nose stabs down and kept landing and pushing the pole forward. Needless to say I dont want to have to replace the mount.

Is it safe to hook the strap through the hood latch on a 750 sxi? I mean I dont want to break my pole but I really dont want to rip off my hood in the middle of the lake.

Whether safe or not, I don't like the ones hooked to the hood latch at all. If you had a hood latch failure, or forgot to lock it, it's possible your limit rope unlatch your hood latch and flood your engine bay.

Mine has a small carabiner on the end and an eye bolt. I just prefer it that way. But I have seen people run them around their SX hood latches before. So it's up to you.

just put the eye bolt through the fiberglass and put a washer on each side?

Yep, that's what I do. Mine is a 1/4" shank one (held up fine, but if you are constantly testing the limits of the rope, might want to go bigger), with fender washers on each side. I run one nut all the way up to the eye, then fender washer, slip it through hole, followed by second fender washer and nyloc.

if your in salt make sure you use stainless hardware and seal up the hole with some silicone too!
