Pump shoe, replace? Or OK?

Hi, I have an old square nose hull that I am going to clean-up and get on the water, just wondering if I should replace the pump shoe if it has this crack in it? Or should I chisel it out and start over?

Cracked shoe is no good. Worx is the best quality / fit with minimal grinding.

We just did a Square on Weds this week. I had to grind on the shoe and hull just a little. I do have cheaper cast ones available BUT the fitment is much worse. I no longer personally use them...

+1 for the Worx shoe. Just like John said, grind on the hull a bit and the shoe and its a perfect fit. When I removed my pump shoe out of my SN, some of the glass came with it. I sanded it smooth and then painted a thin layer of epoxy on it and let it cure. Works great and is totally worth the effort!

I set a 2x4 on the bridge of the shoe and tapped it out towards the rear with a hammer, hitting the 2x4 not the shoe. But if pieces remain, very carefully use a chisel to get them to separate from the hull. Don't dive it through, but twist the chisel to get the parts to lift. Try not to gouge or pry on anything, but most stuff could be fixed easily.

Also, when I installed my shoe I used just silicone. Tape off the tunnel and shoe close to the bonding area. Then when you set the shoe, you can smooth the silicone and remove the tape and it looks super fresh!

Looks like someone just cracked an ear off over tightening that self tapping screw. If the crack isn't going all the through to the inside where the water flows I wouldn't worry about it. Lot of work for nothing imo.

I ran one that was cracked exactly like this on my FX1 for years until I did a Kawi swap on it. As long as it's not cavitating ...... even if it was I'd seal it with some silicone or epoxy.
