I feel like I've already asked this question but I can't find the thread... Out of curiosity, what do you use to install your pump seal while aligning the pump, fill the groove with grease or silicone, install it dry? How tight is tight enough for the seal? Ive heard to check for light leaks once you have everything tightened, but it occurs to me that you could have a weak seal and still not see light. Obviously you want the pump seal as tight as possible against the shoe, but how sensitive is the pump to cavitation with a weak seal?
I have also noticed while using an aluminum WORX pump shoe, I had installed my seal dry. After a few seasons of riding, I removed my pump and noticed a bit of corrosion where the seal had held water against the shoe. Which is why I am curious if it makes sense to fill the void of the seal with grease or silicone.
Anyways, share some info here! Thanks
