FX-1 Pump conversion....155???

Has anyone ever slapped a 155 pump in an FX1? It would seem that if going to the trouble to fit a 144, why not do a 155? I held one up in the cavity. It fits....in a manner of speaking. Obviously not fits as in bolts up or anything even close, but I mean there is room in the pump cavity for it to be there. Im a bit new to Yamaha, so im wondering if there is a reason people arent doing this that im not aware of? Im kinda just going by the logic that if bigger is better, huge must be awesome....lol

You gotta have the Brappp to support the big pump. Not sure what that cc level would be but I don't think you would benefit until you hit the 900cc plus range. Others that have played with big pumps could probably chime in with more knowledge. Maybe Special fx or throw it out there in the driveline forum as this would hold true for all skis and not just the fx1

You'd have to build up a lot of material for a 155. I had to build up quite a bit just to do my 144. Not to mention the rideplate barely clears the 144, that's shimming the plate too.

Fiberglass work is my livelihood so that isn't an issue at all I just would like to be sure that there isn't another reason. But I guess maybe its not needed. I might get a solas or skat pump instead

if you can swap the whole pump area from a 155 ski why not but crearly a lot of work to do ...

we have now simpler solution with full SJ pump area parts ... i mean the whole intake from sj as a lot more water volume in front of the prop ...

with a solas mag it give you instant brap when the ski hit the water.
