Other Pump Blue printing: pitted stator solutions

Last night I embarked on my first pump blue printing. Its a 144 SJ pump.

I've knocked down most of the extra casting flaws etc and still have some finish sanding to do... But I've found a lot of pitting in the vanes and elsewhere on the stator. Its pretty much everywhere.

If I grind enough material away to 'remove' the pits, i'm positive it would compromise the strength of the metal by being too thin.

Should I try to fill in the pits with a two part epoxy like JB weld or something else?
Or... does it matter? I assume that if you want to blue print the pump, that the goal is to make the vanes etc smooth as possible. The pits are rough and I would assume they don't allow for smooth flow.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I figured ya'll could help.

I don't think the effort will be worth the reward to get rid of those. But if you wanted to jb weld would be a great product to use. Make sure to prep the surface properly, that is a highly abused area.

sand it out and paint it.

Leads me to another question. On my reduction nozzle I painted it with a spray laquer. What are ya'll using on these high wear areas for paint?

Ok, that exactly what i'm looking for, Thank you! I'll clean it, and spread a thin coat across the bad spots and get it as smooth as I can and paint it.

Thanks for you help.

I blueprinted my kawi pump, spent hours and hours on it removing all castings and sanded it down to 800 grit so it was almost mirror like. The results were not noticeable until I threw in a tbm cone. Huge improvement...
I would be concerned about the jb weld breaking off, I wouldnt assume paint would hold up very well either unless it was powder coated. I know after a few rides my veins show some wear marks from debris flowing through it. (I do ride the mississippi/meremac river though)
