I will only say this one time. XBOX SUCKS MONKEY BALLS!
I hate it. I dont like shooters and neither do my kids. We unanaimously HATE the giant awkward controllers. And to top it all off it's no secret that the xbox is plagued with issues that cause them to fail, usually within the first year.

Online gaming for PS3 is free. I already have a ton of games for the PS1 and PS2, that get played regularly. There are currently over 120 titles out for the PS3 with more due to be released this month, And as Chuck pointed out, there are tons of other features as well.

PS3 wins. I got one last night.

Thanks for the help. lol

I tried both styles of controller (Sony & M$) and didn't really have a preference. Whatever works I guess.
I hate shooters on consoles, too.
I am currently playing Forza 2. I loved the original Gran Turismo on the PS One, and this one is sort of like it.
So far I just hadn't seen anything that was exclusive to PS3 that I just have to play.
Games I've played and really enjoyed on the 360:
Crackdown
Gears of War
Rainbow Six Vegas
Burnout 4

I am not paying for XBox live, primarily because I don't care for online play. The free XBox live silver still allows for Game Demo downloads. Good enough for me.
I completely agree with you on the reliability issue. I bought mine in Nov 2006, it broke in July.
That sucks, but to be fair, Microsoft extended their warranty to 3 years for this issue. I was out of a console for 2 weeks, but didn't have to pay a dime for replacement and shipping (and I shouldn't).
Anyways, whatever games you prefer.

I'm dying to pick up Skate, Mass Effect (360 Exclusive), GTA4, and a couple others.

I'm sure your opinion would change if you had it...... after time you find any games AI is lacking.... live opponents is awesome no matter what game genre you play, even better with friends. Yeah you have young JA's that talk smack and act like trash so bad you wouldn't let your kids go online...... but most of the time it's not like that, even if it was it still warrants having Live.

I'm dying to pick up Skate.

Wasn't a fan of Skate.... typical EA game that lacks in game play, but has all the other "fluff" that makes their games sell. Concept is cool, just too hard to really execute..... maybe just me, but I'd stick to the mindless button pressing of the THPS series.

No, it would not, I assure you. I have had it in the past. I have a free one month gold card sitting on my desk right now.
I just don't have any reason to activate it. I plain don't like online play.

I'm the opposite, the mindless button pushing doesn't impress me.
But I'm weird with games. I don't like Halo, and I didn't like Bioshock.

I went with a PS3 basically for a Blu-Ray player. I could care less about gaming except for guitar hero. Pretty big fan of having people over and drinking and playing guitar hero when there is nothing else to do. All I've got to say is Guitar Hero III better work for PS3 or I'm gonna be pissed.

Overall I'm very happy with the PS3 even though I've only played a couple games. I did a TON of research on the Blu-Ray vs HD battle and it seems like Blu-Ray has a slight edge over HD right now. Either way this is a battle that will last a while so I'm not too worried about it. I only really payed $200 for the system anyways so I could care less.

care less -> two words (one verb, and "less")

careless -> one word, adjective

2 or 3 major production companies just switched from blu-ray to hd dvd. Expect blu-ray to phase itself out since there will be no movies.

And blockbuster just went all blu-ray. I'm not saying Blockbuster is as huge as it used to be, but Blockbuster choosing VHS over Beta was one of the major reasons VHS won. Overall Blu-Ray is better technology and a better format.

I would like to add that Sony invented the CD in 1979...

Sony invented quite a few formats. How many are still successfully around?

Mini-Disc (1991)--custom disc format, and used ATRAC audio compression, which is proprietary.
Sony Dynamic Digital Sound (1993)--a competitor to the Dolby Digital 5.1 standard.
Multi-Media Compact Disc (1994)--Sony's proprietary format for high-density optical storage, developed in conjunction with Phillips. Negotiations merged this format and Toshiba's Super Density disc format into what would become DVD.
Music Clip (1999)--Sony's first digital player, used ATRAC audio compression.
HiFD (1998)--a competitor to Iomega's Zip drive.
Memory Stick (1998)--proprietary memory device as a competitor to SD and Flash memory.
Super Audio CD (1999)--an optical disc format with higher fidelity than the CD.
PSP (2004)--Uses Universal Media Disc (UMD) media, a proprietary media format.

They also invented Betamax

If you're going to go by Sony's past success with introducing new formats, then HD-DVD is a safe bet for the future.
