Super Jet Proud New Owner!

Finally, I jumped off the Cheap banwagon! After 3 Kawis and 2 of them being turds, I spent my hard earned money on a 95 SNSJ!! I just picked it up today, so obviously I haven't ridden it.. and with work and school going on, I will only be able to take it out on sundays.. EXCEPT for this sunday as its my bday and family is coming in.. But i had a question about my ride plate..

Its one of the fiberglass ones with grooves in it, d cut.. does anybody know who makes them or if this is custom? how much its worth? im not looking to sell it, just want to know what it is.. Do a lot of people use these? or few and far between?

on the kill switch issue a factory yamaha is a sealed unit with the wire harness as part of it. it plugs in toward the rear of the engine compartment and plugs into the pigtail harness that comes out of the e-box
not that you can't take it apart and work on it but it comes as a whole assembly. if you buy a new yamaha one you have to feed it throught your pole and bracket. kawasaki kill switches usuall last forever , yamahas do go bad over if in salt water and not cleaned up very well. so it's up to you both are fine.

About the ride plate basicly the longer the plate it will keep the nose down. shorter will raise it up. with the d cut kinda works both ways helps lenght wise when carving and shorter when freestyle surf riding.. You have tubbies and a longer looking stock pole my guess would be that it a good over all ride plate for your set up to keep the nose down. . It's worth about $75/100 bucks if the guy wants a longer d-cut plate, looks as of it's cracking too.. if you shorten your pole you might also want to make a agjustment or try another ride plate

Another question.. The ski has an older style protec pipe that has the coupler in the middle. The guy said that it likes to split the coupler every few rides.. It does vibrate quite a bit when it's on out of the water. Could that be due to improper shimming?

Also the end of the pipe points to the bottom of the hull causing the hose to slightly kink(using a ziptie to help it stay open) which seems like a poor design, or the pipe wasn't made for my application.. Any suggestions on this? I can post pics when I get home later today.

Excessive vibration can be cause by broken motor mounts or the motor is out of line with the impeller shaft.
Couplers usually split because they get too hot.
That hose looks like its just a straight hose...you need one that has a 90 degree bend in it.

Well, quick update.. Been riding the pi$$ out of this thing and everytbing is fine, still splits a coupler from time to time, but whatever! I ordered an ada head kit from jetmaniac to increase compression.. Thanks Chris! Super fast shipper, One of the best guys to do business with!

I just dropped off my motor to Art Gomez, he's gonna port it, taper bore the carb, bore my nozzle, and install the head for me.. His shop is only like 20 minutes from me so it works out well and I dont have to ship! He is also a GREAT guy to deal with, has wayy too much knowledge of this stuff and very reasonably priced! He said it'll take 2-3 weeks which is a bummer, but I know it'll be worth it!:)

Is there anything else I should be doing? I ride the river a lot, and the lakes.... But recently I've been in the waves..

Yorba Linda, probably 10 minutes from you.. Yeah me and my buddy go out every Sunday.. We just recently started goin to oside, I love the waves haha but we go to Elsinore too which is super laid back! We should get a trip planned out when you finish your ski

Sweet, sounds like a plan. My buddies skis are torn apart right now too. Ones doing footholds on his rn and the other is reinforcing his fx1 painting and turfing!

Okay, so im B-pipe shopping... ill probably end up buying new, but what are the differences in pipes? ie: 90-95, and 96+? My 95 is of course a 701... arent they the exact same motors in the new skis? and what is the difference between limited and mod? limited has a little bit more bottom end correct? or vise versa
