Propane heaters for cold weather riding (what type?)

I know fall is a long way off... but I'm going to get a heater this year... basically just to have at the lake so when we're taking breaks we dont have to freeze our balls off anymore... I liked it when they had them running in Daytona when it was like 50 degrees outside...

I see 2 styles... any idea which would work better? Its not going to be in an enclosed area...

The one that looks like a trash can puts out a lot more btus but it might blow it straight up in the air... where the other one might direct the heat right onto you...

We were the guys with the heaters in Daytona. We had one like the 2nd pic that kicked arse. The other ones we had were what the orange growers use in the groves when there's a freeze. They look just like patio heaters but are alot stronger.
However, they did not do well in big wind. They helped, but they were tall.
If you remember Thurs, Fri, & Sat in Daytona (Sunday was O.K) It's worth it if it fits in the truck!

We use the salamander/torpedo heaters for tailgating here. You have to have a power inverter to plug into for the fan though. We also have a couple of the 10x10 tents which make the biggest difference. You have to have something to keep the heat in unless you're standing right over the heater.

Check out your local equipment rental companies. They will sometimes sell stuff as it gets older or does'nt rent. You can pick things up really cheap sometimes.
