650/X-2 prop binding

So i thought i ended the season with an engine problem, but it turns out the prop is digging into the wall. Anyone have this happen on their 650s or x2's? What is usually the cause and solution.

The cause of the problem is the stainless steel pump liner warping.

There are several solutions. Of which, I can suggest the following.

Cheapest - Take out the prop, sand the liner some, this will get you through another season for almost free.
Next cheapest - Buy another used pump, but this is likely a waste of money.
Value - Have someone replace the liner. I had mine relined by Exactal Tool. If Scott is still doing these, you can reach him at (908) 561-1177
Best (also the most expensive by far) - buy a whole new pump
Hardest - swap out to a Yamaha pump with a replaceable plastic liner

I had Scott reline my pump 3 years ago. I think I paid $200?? I can't remember. Anyway, I was pleased with the results and the price was fair. I'd recommend relining the pump. Unless you decide to swap to a 144mm yamaha pump, then sand to get you through until you can find a fair deal on a yamaha set up.

thanks, looks like im going to try to contact scott at the moment at exactal tool seeing as he's only an hour away from me. Hopefully he'll be able to mill my head And make the welds necessary for me to modify my stock exhaust? Id like to go with yamaha stuff but i think ill eventually buy an sj in a few years when i get the money to do what i want with it.
