Project X2

Hi everyone!

I am new to the project jet ski community, but Im really good at building car engines so I’m hoping those skills can transfer over a little bit.

I have a 1988 Kawasaki 650 X2 that I found at the marina where I work, my boss let me take it for free cause it was kind of abandoned. It has most everything but the engine, gas tank, and battery (obviously). I was wondering what y’all would recommend to do with it, whether it would be an engine swap from a donor machine, or if it’s too hard to find all the parts to make it running again. Or if I should get another jetski to build instead. I will add pictures of it aswell that I took yesterday!
I am also a high school student at the moment so I don’t necessarily have a huge budget to make a crazy build that y’all have. Just want something that can run and be fun to use at the lake.

Thank you for all the help!

Does it have a title, can you get it registered? If so then you could probably get it going for around $1000. If you did the job right, repaired everything, got a good 750 engine, pipe, steering, and pump accessories it would be closer to $3000.

A fuel tank you can find good used ones, but honestly at this point investing in a new oversized one from Fly n Ty products who you can find on FB is worth the money, and itll make the inside look super clean.

shoot me a pm, Ill help you out. My buddy has a complete running 650 from a 92 x2 he pulled out with everything you need minus the new fuel tank.

Thank you for the help! How much would your buddy want for all that? I really wanna see her run again, I hate seeing old machines like this one dying
