This is my ski that was included in the Long way to Galveston thread along with Wayne's ski...but now that it's complete (minus the back bumper. Just haven't put it on yet.) I figured I'd see what you guys think.

It is definately not perfect...but for being my first build I'm pretty damn happy about it. I did every single aspect of the build myself with the exception of the paint and lightening of the flywheel. (Thanks Paul!)

Defoaming sucks, deturfing sucks, glassing sucks and graphics and turfing really suck! I'm sure it'll go a lot smoother next time around though.

But it is well worth it now that the many many long hours, and plenty of bruises and bleeding is over with!!:censored::woot:

Upgraded to a 701 with lightened flywheel, PSI pipe (which was on my 650. Did the porting to match up with the 701.), rejetted carb, aluminum handlepole, 0 degree bars, ss impeller, R&D rideplate and intake grate, and most importantly...footholds!

Here's a few pics, one of before. (ski is filthy though...I didn't shine her up before the pics.) I have a bunch of pics tracking the progress, but I've tried and tried and I can't figure out how to post more than 5, even in a gallery.

Now just have to get on the water!

Oh yeah....notice my wonderful cuved turf on my rails. Wayne told me to nickname it "Swooper jet". I like it!!

By the way....I forgot to ask this before.
I'm needing a plain silver alum. stern (??rear tie down opening) fitting, pisser outlet, and bilge outlet so everything on my ski matches. I already have the bow fitting and have a rear one also that's on a junk X-2 on my boatpad...but I can't get it off. I've got black billet fittings now, but would prefer plain old silver. Also the rear fitting is the stock plastic one, so I wanna ditch that!

If anyone has the extra fittings laying around...let me know.
Thanks in advance!! I appreciate it.

I know this is in the wrong section...but it's to complete my project totally, so.......

that square turned out nice. i can appreciate those gunwales. i beat the hell out of my elbows on my square last summer. sometime i want to tackle forming curved gunwales like on a kawi, for my square, and lap the turf over the edge for padding,

It has one layer of 8mm padding on the top edge of the rails under the turf also. I was sick of wacking my elbows and occasionally a knee also!
It's gonna make quite a difference I'm sure. It feels good and spongy.

Thanks Pablo.

Great looking squarenose.

I want pics of that Kawi exhaust setup please.

4 foot waves on Ray Hubbard? That's big!

Aaron

I didn't end up going with the Kawi side exhaust mod. I stuck with rear. I just decided that I'd prefer to not have the extra noise and smoke. Not to mention that after everything else I did during the rebuild.....I was just plain tired of working and wanted to finish up!!:tapedshut:

Thanks for the kudos Aaron. We'll have to get together to ride one of these weekends.

I'm ready to go again. I spent the day in the garage today and replaced my busted handlepole bracket. Just got back in from finishing up with putting the tank, battery tray and exhaust back in.
I'm ready to head out as soon as I get a chance and see if I can land that damn backflip this time. Hope so....don't want to have to tear down and replace anything again!!

I thought you were using a pipe off a Kawasaki on your SJ?

Aaron

No, it's the pipe that was on my SJ 650 motor before the rebuild.
I was going to use that Kawi 650 side exhaust outlet that I was going to have you send me, but I'd told you to forget about it because I was going to stick with rear exhaust.

I am going to do that mod probably on my other project SN, so if you still have that outlet....I'd take it. Let me know. Thanks Aaron.
