My buddy and I are thinking of picking up an older, cheaper ski to mess around with on the side while we ride our SJ's and to have another ski for our friends/family to ride when we hit the lake. We'd like to practice some first time glass work on whatever we buy, perhaps bobbing it depending on the type of ski it is. We'd like to get a mechanically sound ski since we don't want any issues with it since it wouldn't be our main focus ski. So basically, we are looking for a near indestructible newbie ski to customize for low cost.

Right now we are looking at Kawasaki 550/650s, FX-1's, and maybe even another SJ if we can find an older 650 for cheap. What do you guys think?

Focus on your own ski and riding skills let everyone else buy their own.

I'd like for my brothers and gf to be able to join us. Not really a selfish person biggthumpup.gif I don't want to practice bobbing and glassing on a ski that I have a lot invested into either.

kawasaki skis/hulls have NO resale....so just keep that in mind

just swap a tripple into something n call it a day

I noticed that on craiglist. It seems like you can get a kawi stand up for a couple hundred bucks. Just trying to figure out which would be the best to mess with.

I'm gonna throw a 650 into my 300sx and see what happens, was planing on building one of my js440's as a guest ski but I think that the 300sx might be a little more fun

What is the big difference? I wouldn't want to bob an already small ski and make it difficult to ride.
