Programming Epic HX3 on the bench

I recently bought an HX3 and tried to program it yesterday and wasn't able to. I have their cable & software and was using a laptop that has programmed another one without issue. We put power to the unit and I got a flashing red light in the program when powered up and connected but I could not get any further than that. I was told it should work once installed but it is a major pain to get my ebox in and out so I'd really like to be able to program it before hand.

Heard / read something about having to have lanyard plugged in or possibly a map switch? Is there something else I need to jump to make this happen?

You can make and save a curve in the software without anything connected to the laptop.

You connect only to transfer a pre built curve.

My ski has 10lbs of stuff in a 5lbs box. Have to pull pipe and other stuff to get ebox out and I bought this used so I wanted to make sure I could connect to it, load the map without issue, etc before I tore the ski apart...doesn't sound like it's gonna happen

I think I have the instructions at home if you need them. From memory though lanyard connected to connect and rotory switch to curve A... red dot will turn green on the screen....

Hopefully your ebox has a Way to access the programming lead, cause you might need to adjusts your curve after you try it.

The rotary switch is real handy, you can switch between curves trying 2 at a time or have a hot curve and mild one once you get them chosen..

When I did mine I opened the ebox, added the rotory switch and left it open till I got thru the connection process and loaded a curve and verified it started ok before closing it up. You might do this too

I think the instructions mention bench adj

Yeah if you have the instructions that would be awesome! I sent them an email. I'm going to be using a curve a buddy of mine has already spent a lot of time tweaking and is pretty dialed. Not sure I feel the need to have a mellow curve but I guess would be cool if I ever let a new rider ride the ski but idk if I'll do that

Here's the instructions for the first gen units. I don't think anything changed enough that these wouldn't still apply.

I can't remember if it matters or not but you may have a revision issue if the unit is flashed to a higher revision than your software.
If it displays the serial number, the last couple digits are the rev number.

The latest software I have on file is V4.0.9

Here is what Epic said via email. I will read through the instructions and see if I can get it going tonight. Thank you guys for all the info! This thread should be saved for other new epic users!
