pro-tec head

subdude

Non-flammable?Dare me?
So here's the deal...I bought a used pro-tec head(rec.) with a girdle kit,and I need to know a couple of things:
(1)Do I have to order new o-rings from pro-tec,or can I use proper sized
automotive-style ones
(2)What type of sealant is recommended for use around the water passages
(3)Do I use the stock torques,or are there different specs. for this head?

Thanks in advance!

I have that head and been running it for years.

You can use replacement o rings and long as they are for high temp apps/gas/oil resisitant.
I always use the blue Permatex high temp silicone, that what Pro-tec reccomends.
Just put a thin coating on the bottom of the head and you can torque it to stock specs, but I alsays go a little more, like 5 lbs more.
I've reused the orings many times before too and never had a prob blowing a oring or the silicone seal itself.
Good head IMO.

super-jet 113 nailed it on the head , ive reused mine a few times now i pull the head on mine every now and again just to check the bore and pistons esp when trying to get my jetting dailed in
