300/440/550 Priming fuel system on JS550

Hey guys, well we got the old 550 rebuilt and almost ready to rock. Got 120psi in each hole, great spark, all we are missing is fuel. I tried some ether to try and get fuel to prime but no luck yet. Any tricks on getting this sucker primed? Plenty of fuel in the tank, and i would like to get it going before bypassing all the hoses. Thanks

check all fuel lines make sure theres no blockage,also did you rebuild the carb and hook up the pulse line to the case? another common problem is the fuel slector switch the get build up inside of the and will block the fuel.after all that is checked remove the air cleaner and put you hand over the carb and crank till the motor starts to pop off a little bit and then pull your hand away.( if you hold it to long after it starts to fire up you will foul the plugs ).also check you pick up lines in the tank old fuel can jelly and cause blockage also.

Got her running!! Spitting and sputtering it is improving with tuning, but I want to re-route all the fuel lines to clean it up. Can someone hook me up with a diagram of a cleaned up fuel plumbing? Thanks, here is my motor config.

theres no real way to hide the fuel lines .you could try using something like spark plug wire racks to keep them in line .or zip tie them together reducing movemont and a possibility of them rubbing.also good to hear you got it running.have fun.ive had my ski out twice so far this summer and still working on tuning it.im about ready to give up on it and get a new one.

Ahhh, stick with it. I was in your boat and I just said screw it and got this one dialed in. One more top end and Ill have two running.

I was having serious problems getting mine tuned this year as well. Was having serious loading and fuel flooding. Pulled out the pop-off spring, stretched it a bit, put it back in and tuned it. Now it works great. Will probably still upgrade to an SBN sooner or later but am quite happy with it now and will not worry about it until next season.
