Primer question??????

I am going to paint my goose pole. it is aluminum. What kind of primer should I use? I planned on using zinc chromate primer, but then I was told to use self etching primer and only seconds after that i was to to use epoxy primer. so what primer do i use? I only ride saltwater so I want the pole paint to last longer than a few months.

Can some one tell me how to prep the aluminum to be primed and painted? do i just scuff sand it, clean, prime, paint, clear, bake(in paint booth)?:1zhelp:

if it were mine I would just powdercoat that thing.

I want it to match the paint on my ski so I have to paint it with the same paint.

powdercoat it, then paint over that.

If you have a spray gun I'd use 2-part epoxy zinc primmer and if you don't have a spray gun, just use the zinc chromate primer in a rattle can.

If you have powder coating equipment, I'd use a zinc loaded epoxy powder primer to a partial cure and a second coat of TGIC polyester or epoxy color top coat.

It has some good info on painting aluminum. I used this method to paint one of the outdrives on my boat. It turned out nice but it hasn't seen the water yet.
