pp > reed

Is it possible to switch your piston port engine to a reed engine? i have a reed 650 that that works great and a crappy 550 pp that sucks! could i just switch cases for the top end (sx 550 case) and use after market exaust and carb? :1zhelp:

you can put a 650 in your 550 hull. youll need a conversion plate to adapt the 650 to the 550 bedplate, as well as using one of a few specific 650 pipes.

Oem Kawasaki reed top end won't chage over on the piston port if I'm remembering right, I think the base bolt pattern is different, but the whole reed engine will bolt right in...

You sir are correct an oem won't but an AM pjs cylinder will. The motor I took apart has a pp base but had dual carbs and reeds with some cool looking porting. If I was more into 550's I would have put it together and put it back in a 550 to see what it would do.

if you still have it and want to sell the top end let me know. im in desperate need of a running stand up.. the x-2 is the only thing keeping me sane!

westcoast made an aftermarket reed motor that fits the pp bottom end too. i had one, it ripped. my 89 pp still rips hard with a sbn44 and factory pipe with the sweet paint job. you know the one.
