Yes, too much power can hinder your learning curve.

My theory is start out with a strong limited like Darin said. Once you have hit the wall where power is limiting you, then go with porting. At this point you can decide do you want to go with just a good ported package or add Big Bore as well. You rode my ski. It is just a ported 84mm Big Bore package, You saw what I could do with it.

Bottom line, I can do more with my motor setup than I could if I were to hop on to a 5mm stroker or Lamey setup.

Right now, I dont need it.

Now wait jsut a minute, everytime you get on my 5mil Lamey you ride it the way it should be ridden!!! LOL Just cuz I got Lackosack disease doesn't mean everyone does. LOL
 
practise, learn, practise, try, learn, practise,experience, practise , learn>> skillz.....then upgarde the engine, then finetune...

I used to play the drums and I had the worlds most crappy piece of drum set and everyone just laughed, and as time went by the laughing went away, and then the laughing turned into rage....and the day we went into the studio and I hit that $ 20,000 drum set...I have never experienced so much silence in a room full of peeps...:hail::hail::hail::hail:

I think if you want to be a good rider you need to start working on your body-motorskillz before you start working your wallet !:hail:

All great stuff here. I think skill is way above power also. Ride, ride, ride! You will know when you need more power. I even thought that changing from a SXR to a SJ would help, but I am at the same spot I was before, but have actually regressed a bit because of the lack of stability going into my set up wake now. I'm at least 65 lbs lighter on the SJ, with similar mods, and am doing the same stuff I was before and not as consistantly.
