I never thought I would do this because I just finished building it up but I might be selling my RN. My wife wants to open her own real estate office and I need to have soem extra cash in reserve.
Anyway, in your opinion, what could I get out of it? I have alot of money and time into it but I just don't want to give it away so to speak. I know I won't get all my money back however if I can't get some/most of the money back out of it than I will keep it. Just looking for some opinions. I really need to think this through before I make a big mistake.

Not trying to be a dick but now is probably not the best time to try to open a real estate business. Especially in FL. The market is ******** right now. Either way good luck with your sale. It is a great looking ski. Try to keep it if you can, you will miss it.

I have to agree. I CANNOT believe you are selling your superjet AGAIN! You have put so much work in that ski. I want it, but my wife would beat the *#it out me. Good luck on the sale, but I don't think you should.

I guess I should of added it won't happen until the end of the year at the earliest. We are deffinatelly waiting until the market gets better which will hopefully be after the election. Their is just alot to buy prior to opening an office so i'm probably jumping the gun. I'm just doing some long term planning.

Don't do it man!! Find something else to sell. If I got in a pinch, I'd sell my truck and drive a moped to work before I sold my ski.

I'm just considering it right now. Just depends on the real estate market whether or not I will sell. If the market turns around she is going for it so I will have to be able to make it happen.

Did you ever see that Dr. Pepper comercial where the guy did all kinds of crap for his girl until she goes for his Dr. Pepper?.....

Asking me to sell my ski would be too far. I would do anything for love, but I won't do that!

I know what you are saying. I think I had too much to drink tonight. When I sober up in the morning I will probablly kick myself in the ass for thinking about selling.

Selling it won't make the difference, go to the SBA and look at all the small business loans they offer. If she's savy enough to do real estate, getting an SBA loan should be easy.

I was thinking along that same lines. And not trying to be negative, but what you would get for your ski will not even be a speck compared to what is going to be required to start a business & keep it going. You're looking at a quick fix that ain't no fix.

I guess your right. Even though we have enough to start up the buisness I just wanted to stay in good shape financially. Anyway, I cant get rid of it, what was I thinking anyway?

Don't do it man, you will hate yourself for it after all the work you put into it. Just save a few extra dollars this summer on this and that and put it towards the real estate venture.

Alright, enough of this crazy talk about selling. I can make it work and keep my ski because I have the rest of the year to figure something out.

Mike,
Think about this- You have a lot of money and time invested in your ski. If you sell it you will never see that money back.

Lets say you put in $8000 total in the ski. You sell it for $6000. A year or 2 you decide you want to build a similar ski. - You just lost $2000 and a lot of your time + all the money and time that have to go into the next ski...

If you take out a $6000 loan at 8.00% you will pay $769 in interest if you pay it off in 3 years.

If you would like to continue jetskiing as a hobby I say keep it just because the numbers speak for themselves.

Personally, I dont like loans- but sometimes they make sense...

good choice Mike, also, yeah, you might get 4g's for it, but that is only a drop in the bucket towards what you really need. Keep in mind that even after she starts her business, that it will be several months before any money actually starts coming in........ best to find someone to be a "investor" to cover the startup expenses.......

After really thinking about it and like Eric stated, I would only get 6K if I'm lucky. I have alot more than that into it. I am debt free except my wifes car and my house so I would hate to take out a loan. In this case it would be the smart thing to do.

Thanks for the advice guys. Time to go for a ride....

Selling an item that gives you enjoyment and recreation to pay for something that is work, is just...well....WRONG. I see everyone has pretty much talked you out of it and snapped your senses back to reality, but I just HAD to chime in.
You should never sell something that you enjoy to pay for another endeavor. If you are broke and can't afford the payments anymore, sure. But if things are going well and you can afford it, and all you would manage to get out of it would be 5k to 6k, then NO STINKIN WAY. Get a loan or sell something else, or have a garage sale.
If you sold your ski, you would HATE your wife's business because of it, every day it was sunny or every year when a freeride came to town. Trust me...been there done that. Sure, you can re-acquire stuff, but in the end that costs more than selling existing things you have sweated and bled over. DONT DO IT.

Get you're clothes from good will. Eat over freinds houses/soup kitchens. Sell the furniture. Don't do it......you'll regret it. I thought about selling my roundnose for about 15 minutes while browsing the quadratec site for jeep parts. Once I got my senses back I kicked myself for even thinking of doing something so stupid.
